Tags
Tenant-scoped labels you can attach to almost anything in Pact — and use to slice and segment your data.
Tags are simple, colored labels scoped to your workspace. They're the lightest way to group records by something Pact doesn't model natively — "VIP customers," "Trade show 2026," "Champion," "Needs legal review" — and then filter or segment by that grouping.
What you can tag
Tags are polymorphic. The same tag can be attached to any of these record types:
- Accounts and contacts
- Opportunities
- Sequences and playbooks
- Notes, segments, campaigns, and tasks
Because a tag spans record types, "VIP" can mark both a company and the open deal on it, and you can pull up everything carrying that tag in one place.
Creating and managing tags
The Tags page lists every tag in your workspace. Each tag has:
- Name — up to 64 characters (required).
- Color — a hex color shown as a dot and a preview pill.
- Description — optional context, up to 256 characters.
- Slug — derived automatically from the name (for example, "VIP customers" becomes
vip-customers).
Use New tag to create one. Editing lets you rename, recolor, or rewrite the description — the slug stays stable so existing attachments are never broken. Deleting a tag removes it from every record it's on; the confirmation shows how many attachments will be cleared. The records themselves are untouched.
Deleting is a cascade
Deleting a tag detaches it from every record at once. The records stay, but the label and its grouping are gone. Rename instead if you only need to change wording.
Attaching tags
From any account, contact, or opportunity, use the inline tag picker to attach a tag:
- Search the existing tags by name or slug.
- Type a new name and press Enter to create and attach in one step.
- The tag's color previews live before you commit.
Bulk apply and detach
Open a tag's detail page to see everything it's attached to, grouped by record type with a count for each — Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Sequences, and so on. From there you can:
- Detach a single record with its row's trash icon.
- Select several records with their checkboxes and Detach them in one action.
Tags as segments
A tag is a ready-made segment. Filter a list by a tag to act on the whole group — enroll every "Champion" contact in a sequence, or review every "Needs legal review" deal before quarter close.
